We marked Herrnhut Day with hearts full of gratitude! Together, we took part in the day to learn about the importance of faith and community, reflecting on how we can live these values out in our everyday lives.

Herrnhut Day marks the founding of the Moravian community of Herrnhut in Saxony, Germany in 1722, a settlement that became known as the spiritual home of the Moravian Church (moravian.org). It has come to symbolise unity, faith and community living, values that shaped the church from its earliest days. This is significant to Kingsley College because we hold the same aim of fostering a community where students grow in faith and serve God and others alongside one another (Kingsley College – Our Philosophy). It’s celebrated with services and gatherings that bring people together to reflect on faith and community, much like the assembly we held.
From the start of the day, our assembly paused to reflect on our faith, mark the ties that connect us, and take part in the fellowship of our community. It was a reminder that we do not walk this journey alone, we walk it side by side, supporting and encouraging one another along the way.
Throughout the day, we spoke about the rich history behind Herrnhut Day and what it means to belong to a community rooted in faith and love. Students and staff alike shared their thoughts on how small, everyday actions such as kindness and generosity can reflect the deeper values we hold.

After the assembly, we shared a sweet treat and spent time with one another, and the place was filled with laughter. It was a fitting way to close out the celebrations, and people left with full hearts.
We look forward to carrying this spirit of gratitude and unity with us in the days ahead.
