Book Week Comes to Life at Kingsley College

The whole school came together for Book Week to show off their amazing costumes, and the creativity on display was incredible! From favourite storybook characters to imaginative creations, it was so much fun seeing everyone’s hard work and enthusiasm shine through. Such a fantastic turnout too, as so many students and staff got involved and made the day truly special.

From Prep to Year 12, Book Week is a reminder of just how much a love of reading shapes a child’s journey through school. Our youngest learners are busy sounding out letters and discovering the magic of their first chapter books, while our primary students are building fluency and comprehension, learning to dig deeper into character, plot and meaning. By the time our secondary students reach the senior years, that same love of story has grown into sharp analytical writing, confident essays and a genuine appreciation for literature in all its forms.

Days like this also remind us why strong literacy foundations matter so much beyond the classroom. Reading well and writing clearly are skills our students carry into every subject and, eventually, into life beyond school, whether that’s a university application, a job interview, or simply the ability to think critically about the world around them. Book Week gives us a light-hearted, joyful way to celebrate raising confident communicators and lifelong learners.

It was great to see our teachers and staff throw themselves into the spirit of the day right alongside the students, dressing up, laughing and celebrating together. Their enthusiasm set the tone for the whole day and showed just how much our community values reading and storytelling, not simply as something to be studied, but as something to be shared and enjoyed together. It’s a genuine reflection of what “linking learning to life” looks like in practice. And at the heart of it all is a reminder that every story we read and write is a chance to reflect God’s creativity and the gift of imagination He’s given us.
