From the Principal: The Pearl of Great Price
Welcome back to school!
What a terrific start to the year we’ve had. It is great to see everyone again after the holidays, and a joy to have so many new families joining the school. We hope everyone feels welcome and settles into the New Year smoothly.
The Pearl of Great Price
Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46 (ESV)
Many Christians have a moment in their life where they realise that Jesus is more important to them than anything else, and become willing to give up anything for him.
When I was in school, I thought that school was taking away from time with God, and time with God was taking away from study time. I was often torn between spending time with God or doing homework and assignments. It was not until later in life that I discovered God was with me in everything, including my studies and time with others.
Placing God first is a central Christian value, but it doesn’t have to be at the expense of learning. One of the great things at Kingsley College is the way in which teachers seek to reveal Christ in every area of the curriculum. Our values of “Loving God” and “Learning” are not in tension with each other, they are the same thing.
May Christ reveal himself to you and your children in the every day, in your relationships with each other, and your day to day work, as you pursue him, the Pearl of Great Price.
God Bless, Michael Appleton (Principal)
