Rockhampton’s Revolutionary Stars: Kingsley Girls Team on their way to Hydrogen Grand Prix World Race

The Kingsley College community is buzzing with excitement following a remarkable performance at the recent Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) in Gladstone. We are exceptionally proud of both our teams who participated this year!

The boys team, the CQU Zoomers, came fifth place with 694 laps. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of CQUniversity, the Zoomers have displayed fantastic ingenuity and dedication.

The girls team, the Kingsley Kachow, competed for the first time this year. They came second place with 842 laps, earning them a coveted spot in the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix World race! This is an achievement that serves as an inspiring example for aspiring young female engineers and scientists

In August 2025, the girls team has the opportunity to travel all the way to Germany for the Grand Prix World Race. But they will need our help.

This is a unique opportunity to invest in both people and progress: this effort is about more than the competition! It is about building confidence, opening career pathways, and empowering young women to see themselves as leaders in innovation.

The H2GP is the product of a 6 month STEM education program in which “students work with teammates and industry mentors to design, engineer and construct their very own hydrogen-powered cars,” Horizon Educational. Our students from both teams meticulously worked and applied themselves, using principles of physics, chemistry, and engineering.

This is an incredible opportunity to represent Australia on the global stage, and we’re seeking partners to help get them there.

There are several levels of sponsorship opportunities available and we are open to discussion regarding any sort of contribution.

Let’s send our girls to race in Germany!
